Our second trip to Nepal will soon start, but what awaits us there is once again not entirely clear.
The current government in Nepal is still very young; it was elected by the population in 2013. Over the course of this year, the government was finally able to agree on a constitution. However, various small fringe groups do not agree with this. One of these groups lives in the south of the country, on the border with India. The Indians are very sympathetic to this group and have therefore set up a road blockade. No goods can be imported from India at the moment. There is a lack of various resources throughout the country, especially gasoline. The official portrayal in the media is different.
It is claimed that the Nepalese are blocking the road. However, we rely on the reporting of our friends on site. Due to this blockade, no building materials could be ordered or even delivered to Bhumesthan.
Our friend Narayan is not even able to travel to his village during the festival because there are hardly any buses or anything like that, or only at extremely expensive prices. We'll see what happens in the next few weeks, as always our friends are optimistic that things will move forward.
